The short answer
At this budget you are choosing which compromise you can live with — there is no laptop under ₹50,000 that is good at everything. Decide which of these you are, and stop reading:
- Office work, college, 8-hour days on battery → the top pick below. Best screen and best battery in the group.
- You need 16GB RAM for heavy multitasking → pick #2, the only one that ships with it at this price.
- Light gaming or video editing → pick #3, but accept three hours of battery and a loud fan.
- Absolute lowest spend that still isn't junk → pick #4, around ₹34,000.

Ignore the marketing and check these five things. In this segment they are what separate a laptop you keep for four years from one you resent in eight months.
- RAM: 16GB, or upgradeable to it. 8GB soldered is the single most common regret at this price. Check that at least one slot is free.
- Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD. 256GB fills up within a year. Never accept an eMMC or spinning drive in 2026.
- Screen: 1920×1080 IPS, 300 nits or more. Under 250 nits is unusable near a window. TN panels still exist at this price — avoid them.
- Build: metal lid at minimum. Full plastic chassis flex is what kills hinges around month 20.
- Ports: at least one USB-C with display output. Charging over USB-C is a genuine convenience worth paying a little for.
The spec people over-weight is the processor generation. Between a current-gen chip with 8GB and a one-generation-old chip with 16GB, take the RAM every time at this budget.

Two traps to avoid
The "great processor, terrible everything else" trap. Several listings in this range lead with a strong CPU and quietly pair it with 8GB of soldered RAM, a 256GB drive and a 220-nit TN panel. The benchmark looks good; the laptop is miserable to use. Read the full spec sheet, not the title.
The inflated-MRP trap. A "52% off" badge on a model whose real street price has been steady for a year is not a discount. Check the price history before you believe the badge — we list the 90-day figure for exactly this reason.
Should you wait for the next sale?
For laptops specifically, yes — usually. Prices in this segment fall a genuine ₹4,000–₹8,000 during the Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days, and bank card offers stack another 10% on top. If your current machine still works and you are within about six weeks of a sale event, wait.
Buy now if you are replacing a dead machine or you need it for a semester that has already started. The saving is not worth a month without a laptop.
FAQ
Is 8GB RAM enough in 2026?
For a browser and Office, yes, just about. For anything else, no. If you cannot stretch to 16GB, at minimum buy a model with a free RAM slot so you can add a stick later for around ₹2,500.
Amazon or Flipkart — which is safer for a laptop?
Both are fine for sealed products from the brand's official store. Check the seller name rather than the marketplace, and prefer the listing that shows the manufacturer warranty explicitly. Flipkart's replacement window is often shorter, so read it before buying.
Are refurbished laptops worth it at this budget?
Occasionally, from a seller with a proper warranty. But at ₹50,000 you can buy new with full warranty, so the risk rarely pays. Below ₹30,000 the calculation changes.
Do these prices include bank offers?
No. The prices shown are the listed price. Card discounts and exchange offers come off on top, which is why the final amount you pay is often lower than what you see here.
